Kerastase Nutritive Product Review

Over the years, I’ve had my fair share of hair treatments from coloring to perms. I’ve been getting balayages for a while now and never really noticed a difference in the quality of my hair until going blonde. When I originally thought about doing a drastic color change to my hair, I actually wanted to go gray until my hairdresser told me how high maintenance it would be. I immediately was turned off by the idea of having to do monthly touch ups especially since I know that $$$ adds up. Instead, I opted to go with a blonde balayage but was definitely not prepared for the long-term TLC that would be needed.

I’ve been blonde for about a year and have noticed a steady change in the texture and overall health of my hair. I recently got a touch-up and had a new hairdresser point out to me how dry my hair was. I guess I never really noticed since it’s just become the norm so she suggested using a hair mask regularly. Luckily, Kerastase gifted me a couple of new hair care products from the Nutritive line that are specifically targeted at treating my dry hair so I thought I’d share my initial thoughts with you here!

In terms of shampoo and conditioner, I normally use a cocktail of stuff from Head & Shoulders, Redken, and the L’Oreal Sulfate Free line. Does anyone else do this? I also use purple shampoo and conditioner every so often when I feel like my hair is getting brassy. While I feel like all of these are great clarifying products, I’ve been using the Kerastase Nutritive Bain Magistrale and Fondant Magistrale to help combat breakage while still getting a deep clean. FYI I like to shampoo twice in one shower mainly because I only wash my hair a couple times a week so I want to make sure I get all the product out. Hair tip: Over-shampooing can make hair greasy in the long run and daily washing strips your hair of its natural oil production. I’m not saying you shouldn’t wash your hair every day because everyone’s hair is different but I’ve moved away from regular cleansing and haven’t had any issues (with the help of some dry shampoo).

I also received the Masquintense Thick and Créme Magistrale and these have been absolute miracle workers. The Masquintese Thick is a hair mask that you wash out after about 10 minutes and the Créme Magistrale is a leave-in conditioner. I’ve tried a couple hair masks before but the Masquintense has been the best one by far. After towel drying, I apply the Créme Magistrale from mid-shaft to ends and let air dry. It wasn’t until after using these two products I felt an immediate difference in not only the texture but my ends look healthier and even my frizz has calmed down. This was my first time using Kerastase products so I’ll continue to see how my hair does over time but so far I’m sold on this new regimen. Let me know what products work for you or if you have any recommendations for color-treated, dry hair!
