Sephora Spring Makeup Haul + Review

Date
Apr, 30, 2018

I recently conducted a poll on my Instagram Story and so many of you wanted to see a review of the products I purchased during the Sephora sale. I definitely haven’t been giving the beauty section here as much love since I usually post quick snippets of things on my Instagram. To start off, I’m actually trying to transition over to using a lot more Korean beauty products. Overall I’ve found them to be cheaper and just as, if not more, effective than the things you’ll get from bigger name brands. My sister is a huge beauty junkie so she has definitely helped me up my K-beauty game so I’m hoping to share some of that with you soon but in the meantime I’m really excited to share some of the new things I picked up. Here are my first impressions!

IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream SPF 50+

I’ve been looking for a CC cream for the longest time and I think I’ve finally found it! During the week, I try to keep my makeup routine as simple as possible and this has definitely made everything so much easier. I used to use the Hourglass Vanish Foundation Stick (which I still like) but have been wanting a product that does everything in one. The IT Cosmetics CC Cream has really great buildable coverage, so I don’t feel the need to apply concealer, and comes with SPF so everything goes on in a single application. Whether you apply with your fingers or with a makeup brush, it’s seriously fool proof!

Belif Moisturizing Eye Bomb

People who know me personally know how much I emphasize the need for eye cream. I guess this teaching has been ingrained in me by my Korean aunt who introduced it to me in high school. For a while, I used Clinique All About Eyes until I recently started to develop small lines under my eyes. It was time for a change and when I heard positive reviews about Belif’s Eye Bomb I thought I’d try it out especially since I love Belif’s The True Cream – Moisturizing Bomb so much. I’ve only been using it for about a week and I can already tell a difference. My lines have faded, despite my extra travel and stress, and though it’s pricier than Clinique it’s definitely been worth it.

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water

This is a product I’ve been using for about a year now so this was really just to restock. To be honest, I’m not sure how much this primer water does since I use my Becca primer prior to applying any makeup. Instead, I tend to use this to set my face or refresh throughout the day. I briefly tried the Tarte 4-in-1 Setting Mist and didn’t like it. The Smashbox one doesn’t have much of a scent which I appreciate and it does what it says. Nothing amazing but no complaints.

Sunday Riley Good Genes All-in-One Lactic Acid Treatment

I cannot stop talking about Sunday Riley. I tried the Luna Sleeping Night Oil about a year ago and didn’t like it because of the smell but have since gotten used to it. Lately, I’ve been coupling that with the Good Genes serum and my skin texture hasn’t been this good in a long time. Whenever I apply the product it’s as if I got an instant facial (crazy I know). Since it is an acid treatment, I try not to go overboard and space out the usage throughout the week for when I feel like it’s needed but I am so impressed each time. 110% recommend!

IT Cosmetics Brow Power Universal Brow Pencil

I’ve been an Anastasia Brow Pencil lover ever since it came out but when I recently ran out my sister gave me a trial size of an IT Cosmetics one. I was a little worried that it only came in one shade but as soon as I put it on it just worked. With the Anastasia Brow Pencil, I found that I usually needed to go back a few times to get the right coverage or pigmentation in certain areas. When I tried IT Cosmetics, it definitely had a creamier consistency unlike the slightly waxy texture of Anastasia. The packaging also feels more substantial and the spooley is softer in comparison. I actually feel like it takes even less time to do my brows than before so I think I found my new go-to brow product!

I hope you found these product reviews to be helpful. I’ll definitely try to update you as I continue to use them. Stay tuned for a post on what beauty products I take with me when I travel and a review of some new Korean products I’m testing out. Don’t forget to use Ebates when shopping online to get cash back from a bunch of retailers, including Sephora. Finally, let me know what products you’re loving or if you have any recommendations for things I should try!
