With the start of a new year, I wanted to look back and do a quick roundup of my tried and true favorite beauty products to share with you all. With the year spent mostly indoors, I really focused a lot on minimal makeup and refining my skincare routine. While I tried a bunch of different things, these are the products I consistently used or went back to throughout the year. I also wanted to make sure to keep this as streamlined as possible so this is really the best of the best for me. Here are my beauty favorites of 2020:
Makeup
Kosas Revealer Concealer
The one makeup product I wore most throughout 2020. This concealer is so hydrating and has great buildable coverage. I love this for full coverage looks but also when I just want to cover up a blemish for a “no-makeup” day. They also recently expanded their shade line to cater to more skin tones which we love.
KVD Beauty Tattoo Liner
My go-to liner for years. I’m so picky about eye liner formulas and applicators but I believe a brush tip is the most precise to get that super crisp looking wing. I also like the formula of the KVD one most since it doesn’t smudge and has a nice matte finish.
Dr. Jart Cicapair Tiger Grass Camo Drops
This was a late addition to the year but I used to use the Dr. Jart Cicapair Tiger Grass Cream religiously in 2019 but it fell on the backburner until it went viral more recently. Since it’s been sold out pretty much everywhere, I thought I’d give the Camo Drops a try instead since it’s a serum formula and has a higher SPF. So far, I love how it lessens my redness and really gives my skin a more even tone without even putting other makeup on. I actually think I like it more than the cream formula especially since the dropper doesn’t require you to dip your fingers into anything.
Skincare
Youth To The People Superfood Cleanser
I’m so glad I discovered Youth To The People last year because it’s quickly become one of my favorite skincare brands. I basically fall in love with all of their products so it was really hard to choose just one but this cleanser is a standout. It’s the best second cleanser and really gets everything off my skin without stripping it or leaving it feeling overly squeaky clean (also smells amazing). I know it will be a staple in my routine for years.
Peace Out Skincare Acne Serum
I never used a serum for acne until 2020 and this has been a holy grail for fighting maskne. It’s super gentle formula is great to use day and night so I pretty much use it everyday. It also balances the salicylic acid with niacinamide which is basically my favorite skincare ingredient of all time. If you’re looking for a daily acne treatment that won’t dry out your skin, this is it.
Good Molecules Discoloration Correcting Serum
As a follow up to treating maskne, this serum has been a key player in helping to lighten dark spots and hyperpigmentation. I love Good Molecules for their transparent ingredients and affordability in their products. They have a bunch of good serums but I turned to this one the most last year.
Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen
I am big on sunscreen and can’t stress the importance of it enough. This formula is super smooth, has a silicone-like texture that mimics a pore blurring primer, and are reef safe.
Kosas Chemistry AHA Deodorant
2020 was the year I really explored clean deodorants. I’ve tried so many drugstore options but they just haven’t cut it compared to the Kosas one. It’s comparable in price to popular ones, like Native, but it does more than just mask B.O. It also has AHAs that actually help to gently exfoliate your underarms which is great for people who might be trying combat discoloration.
