For my second gift guide, I wanted to focus on sharing a handful of brands/companies that could use a little extra attention this year. As a daughter of small business owners, I know how hard 2020 has been for them and the challenge to stay afloat. While it’s easy to shop at our typical big box stores, I also want to encourage shopping small and supporting businesses like these for your holiday gifts when possible. Here are just some of the small businesses that I know and love:
Idlewild Dried Floral Shop
I’ve been loving the look of dried flower bouquets, especially in the fall and winter, to cozy up the home. I stumbled upon Idlewild a couple months ago and am obsessed with their arrangements. Plus, their pricing is super reasonable compared to some larger floral brands that offer something similar.
Friday Field Trip
In full transparency, this is my college friend’s brand that I recently bought a sweatshirt from and I’ve literally worn it nonstop since I got it. The story behind how he started the streetwear brand hits really close to home for me and the quality of the pieces are worth every penny.
ASRTD Eyewear
The first thing that caught my eye about this brand was their selection of sunglasses. They’re trendy but not marked up so you can gift the look for a fraction of the cost. They also have blue light glasses that I wear all the time! You can also use code ALEX20 to save 20% on your purchase.
Shop Jitana
The perfect home decor shop for that person with the well traveled home. The founder’s interior style is inspired by her travels around the world and it gives me major RH vibes. I’m eyeing some of the vases for myself but they have a ton of options depending on your budget.
P.F. Candle Co.
You’ve probably seen these candles around before but I had to include them since they’re LA based and who doesn’t love a good candle? I’m partial to the Teakwood & Tobacco scent which is a foolproof gift to give. They also have other options like reed diffusers, room sprays, and incense which all make great housewarming gifts too.
Sock Sammy Jo
Tie dye has been all the rage this year and the trend isn’t going away any time soon. These tie dyed Nike socks are the perfect gift to give that sneakerhead or hypebeast in your life.
KNC Beauty
Give the gift of beauty with these eye and lip masks! Not only are they super cute and effective but KNC Beauty is founded by a black female entrepreneur. They would also make great stocking stuffers or add-ons to a gift.
Shop Pigment
My best friend introduced me to this store and I’ve been eyeing them ever since. They have the cutest pots and planters for the plant lover in your life and a whole holiday shop filled with festive decor items. They’re based in San Diego but ship anywhere.
Alliciante
One of my favorite jewelry brands that’s completely 14k solid gold so you don’t have to worry about the pieces tarnishing over time. I’ve purchased multiple pieces from her and the customer service is always perfection. If you’re open to spending a little more, these make beautiful gifts for that jewelry minimalist.
