Fall is just around the corner and I have to say it’s definitely my favorite season. LA is slowly cooling down but let’s be real… LA doesn’t really ever get that cold so I’ll still be integrating some summer pieces. I’m trying to tighten up on my spending (mostly cut back on impulse shopping) so I’ve been really cognizant of repurposing things I already have and investing in items that’ll last through the seasons. I know not everyone has the flexibility to buy new things on a weekly basis so this is my tip to you. Don’t worry about buying into every trend but spend on the things you know you’ll wear time and time again. Trust me, it’s been a process but I’m learning to take more of my own advice.
Crop tops and high waisted pants/culottes have been my go-to’s lately which is exactly what I opted for in this look. Mind you, the majority of these pieces aren’t new. I did recently splurge on this Opening Ceremony bomber but it’s quickly become one of my favorites. I know Opening Ceremony isn’t the most affordable brand and I would probably never pay full price for it but I lucked out and got this one on sale as it was the last one in stock so I figured it was a sign. It’s not very thick so it’s perfect for this fickle weather and it’s reversible so you get double the wear. I kept the overall look pretty casual with a bralette and my platform Vans sneakers but I can definitely see myself pairing this look with some heels for a night out.I know I’m guilty of eyeing designer brands that I’m very rarely willing to pay for. If you’re like me, I’d check out sites like Yoox, The Outnet, or Gilt for steals on higher priced items. For those of you who have been following me for a while, you’ll notice that a lot of my clothes are actually from regular stores you’d find at any mall. When it comes to designer items, handbags have always been my kryptonite. I really feel like the right bag can elevate any outfit so that’s where I treat myself. So my other tip is to find the things you love and save your money for those things only. I know it’s hard not to buy that wrap dress that [insert famous blogger’s name] is wearing but I’ve learned that this method really keeps me in check and I don’t end up spending on things I’ll regret later.
